Show up Everyday
Nora Boneburger: Proof That Showing Up Matters
Just a couple of years ago, Nora Boneburger, now a ninth grader at Gwynedd Mercy Academy, was told she wasn’t quite ready to make our 10-girl main roster. Instead of walking away, Nora chose a harder path — she stayed on as a practice player.
What followed is exactly what we hope young athletes learn through the game.
Nora showed up. Every day.
She worked her way from the B team to the A team, earning her spot through effort, consistency, and coachability. Her development didn’t stop at practice. Nora’s dad shared that she would be out in the driveway at night, lights on, getting reps in well after most kids had gone inside. That quiet work — unseen by most — is what separates players over time.
Today, Nora is now a valued member of the Gwynedd Mercy JV program, one of the more competitive programs in the Philadelphia area. Her desire, determination, and ability to be coached have shaped her into the player she is becoming. She’s the starting point guard and their best on ball defender.
We love Nora — not just for how much she’s improved, but for how she’s done it. She’s a reminder that progress isn’t always linear, and that belief, work ethic, and resilience matter.
We’re excited to continue watching her journey — including again today, as she takes the floor against Coach Matt’s Mount Saint Joseph Academy.
Bottom line: Nora kept showing up. And it changed everything. And she’ll continue to.
