The Next Play Edge: Built on PCL Toughness, Powered by Marc Rodriguez
The music is low. The weights hit the floor. Before most people start their day, athletes are already putting in work — no crowd, no scoreboard, just preparation.
This is where the Next Play edge begins.
Next Play isn’t Father Judge, but one of the people shaping the physical development of our athletes carries deep Crusader roots. Marc Rodriguez, a Father Judge High School alum and the program’s first 1,000-point scorer, has always let the work speak louder than the résumé.
Today, Marc serves as the official strength and conditioning coach for Father Judge High School while continuing to mentor athletes connected to the Next Play community. Inside The Village, his performance gym in Ambler, the focus stays simple: move better, build real strength, and develop confidence that lasts longer than a season.
Many families first meet Marc through Next Play, but his impact extends far beyond a single workout. His approach isn’t about chasing numbers — it’s about helping athletes become more explosive, more balanced, and more durable when the game speeds up.
Marc also brings a college-level perspective through his work at Delaware Valley University, helping younger athletes understand what the next level demands long before they step onto a campus.
If you ask Marc about milestones, you won’t hear much about records or recognition. Humility has always defined how he carries himself — steady guidance, consistent preparation, and belief in long-term growth.
As Father Judge celebrated its second consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League Championship, much of the work that helped shape that success happened far from the spotlight. Early mornings. Consistent habits. Quiet leadership.
Because around here, strength isn’t about recognition.
It’s about preparation.
