Who started NPB? Why?

Ryan Ansel and Matt Paul founded Next Play Basketball.

Over the last 16 years, Ryan and Matt have cultivated a relationship from player/coach to mentee/mentor and close friends.

Both Ryan and Matt have worked to positively impact the lives of young people through the sports, especially the game of basketball. They have designed this unique program to help kids develop as players and people!

What is the NPB mission?

NPB’s mission is to create a culture that helps young athletes develop a Next Play Mentality. This mentality will help make them more resilient, confident and successful, both on and off the court.

Where is NPB?

NPB is based in the greater Philadelphia area, with various locations throughout the city and suburbs. This includes but is not limited to La Salle College High School, Germantown Academy, SCH Academy, GMA, and SPN.

Can I do NPB and another sport/team?

NPB seeks committed families who are interested in being a part of a unique basketball community.  At NPB, we believe in the benefit of playing multiple sports. While we provide an elite basketball development program, we recognize that kids play multiple sports, and there will be conflicts.

How old do you have to be to participate in NPB?

NPB offers programs for 3rd to 12th-grade boys and girls.

When and how frequently do AAU teams practice?

NPB team's practice frequency and time are based on the specific team and age level. Most teams practice 2 times a week throughout the season, with additional workouts and clinics available.

When are tryouts for NPB Teams?

Refer to the Teams/Leagues/Clinics page for the most updated tryout info.

How do I join the NPB Program?

Register for an NPB program on the Teams/Leagues/Clinics page or contact us at info@nextplaybasketball.com

Does NPB help with college recruiting?

NPB assists in the college recruiting process for both parents and children. We will make sure that players get seen by college coaches and know what events to attend.

Our coaches, who have college coaching experience, will assist players in preparing to play basketball at the next level. Exposure is meaningless if players are not prepared to perform at a high level.

Do you offer programs other than AAU?

Yes! We offer developmental programs at all levels. If an athlete does not make an AAU team, we want to help them “Next Play It” and focus on how they can GET BETTER and move towards their basketball goals!

How can I become an NPB coach?

We are excited by your interest in joining our family. Please contact Director of Basketball Jake Webster via email: jake@nextplaybasketball.
